COMPETITION TEAM PROGRAMMING 2011-2012
APA is introducing a new “Competition Team Training Program”. This program involves classes that are specifically designed for competitive students. These classes are for students who are interested in taking their training to another level. In order to be placed in these classes you must speak to a studio director. Taking these classes does not mean you are guaranteed a placement on the competition team, but it does mean with hard work, dedication and practice you can be considered.
- Exams are strongly recommended, those students being offered exams will be required to take them.
- Competitors MUST attend at least one Fall workshop for a weekend, eg: Groove Street or Triple Threat
- Competitors MUST attend the studio Adapt workshop (for suitable dancers).
- Competitors MUST attend the RAD workshops (for suitable dancers).
- Competitors are encouraged to see 3 theatre dance shows in a season relating to dance in order to gain insight into performance and quality needed as an artist. Inexpensive shows will be posted in studio.
- Competitors will be required to attend strength and conditioning class once per week as well as the required classes.
- Dancers may not miss their regular technique classes and still compete.
- All rehearsals, scheduled, extra (if needed) and dress rehearsals are mandatory, no exceptions.
- Dancers participating in other Dance Troupes/Groups/Studios that are not APA related will not be allowed to compete.
